Brokaw FFA Members Conduct Seatbelt Safety Program
Brokaw FFA members of Clarinda conducted a rural road safety program entitled “Buckle Up or Eat Glass” to area students on September 19.
As part of the program, members stopped vehicles coming to the middle school and the high school on the morning of the 19th and checked for seatbelt use. Those students and parents wearing their safety belts were given a “prize” for doing so. FFA members then presented a safety presentation, highlighting many safety procedures to use in rural areas and startling statistics about rural accidents. The presentation was given to all eighth graders at the Middle School.
After completing the final report, it showed that 94% of the students who were stopped and checked for seatbelt use were indeed wearing their safety belts. FFA members helping with the presentation were Bradlie Wilmes, Dagen Price, Alex Baker, Ethan Herzberg, and Lane Mellencamp. Members helping check seatbelts were Colbie Wilmes, Bradlie Wilmes, Alex Baker, Ethan Herzberg, Dagen Price, Ethan Jones, Hailee Knight, and Connor Brown.
